Vintage (early 1960's) Taxco Sterling Silver Inlaid Mosaic Brooch, handcrafted, purchased by my mother. This one is also marked GDC, which refers to the specific artisan shop. (From Google: Known as the "cradle of Mexican silver," Taxco produces authentic sterling pieces (92.5% pure silver) with rich, traditional designs and superior craftsmanship, often including detailed, handmade, intricate styles. Highly collectible.)
It's dark until you have it in the right light, then you see the inlaid semi-precious stones. The silver inlay band is also much thicker than similarly designed brooches for sale, increasing its value.
It roughly weighs a little over .5 oz, is 1 3/4 inch in diameter and 2 3/4 inch long. The pin still works. It definitely needs a professional cleaning as my little polishing cloth could only do so much. There's one spot where the inlaid stones came out. Please see photos for condition. I tried to take pics in a variety of lights and angles.
