Original 1989 Tommy Boy Records CD pressing of 3 Feet High and Rising, De La Soul’s genre-defining debut and a cornerstone of late-80s hip-hop culture. This is an authentic period release, not a reissue or remaster, complete with original artwork and correct jewel case.
Produced primarily by Prince Paul, the album helped launch the Native Tongues movement and permanently expanded the creative boundaries of rap through playful skits, dense sampling, and forward-thinking production. Key tracks include The Magic Number, Me Myself and I, Buddy, and Plug Tunin’, all widely referenced by DJs, producers, and hip-hop historians.
Disc surfaces are clean with strong reflection. Artwork is intact and legible. Jewel case shows light, normal shelf wear consistent with age. Original Tommy Boy pressings from this era are increasingly scarce in clean, complete condition.
